Boys In The Band.

"About eight years and 200 Pete Doherty drug arrests ago, the Libertines released debut album Up the Bracket and became the press-anointed saviors of UK rock. But after drug problems and intra-band strife took their toll, co-leaders Doherty and Carl BarĂ¢t went their separate ways just one record later, with Doherty fronting Babyshambles and Barat leading Dirty Pretty Things. Now Spinner reports that the Libertines will reunite to play England's Reading and Leeds Festivals this summer.

The shows will be the band's first since 2004, and all four original members are on board. The Guardian reports that the band will earn themselves £1.5 million, or about $2.25 million, to play the two sets. Both festivals take place during the August 27-29 weekend.

Of course, with Doherty on board, this reunion should be an unpredictable one. Thus far this year, Doherty has already been arrested for bringing heroin into a British courtroom and for providing the heroin that allegedly led to the overdose death of British heiress Robin Whitehead."

Saturday Night.

Well today, and really the last few weeks have been tough. Work has been EHHH, And I swear if I have to hear that god awful music they have on repeat on the supermarket intercom, i'm going to go insane! And the news of Alex Chilton's death, and on the exact next day finding out my dog has cancer has taken it's toll. I've been reading alot of Lou Reed lyrics, man has that guy have some crazy stories to tell. Anyways i'm home, bored on a Saturday Night. Stephanie is out on the town, friends no where to be found, i'm in complete isolation. Well lets look on the bright side. .Spring Break is here, and no I won;t be going to Cancun I'm not a high school senior with a hat backwards, sunglasses, no shirt, Hawaiian shorts, and sandals showing off my tribal band tattoo. Or even better a saying in Chinese that says "Peace" but really says "Idiot". Bye for now!

How do you think it feels
When you're speeding and lonely
Come here baby
How do you think it feels
When all you can say is: If only
If only I had a little
If only I had some change
If only, if only, only

Alex Chilton.

Alex Chilton died today in New Orleans. The legendary singer/songwriter was 59. He was in Austin scheduled to play SXSW in a Big Star reunion show. Chilton who was in The Box Tops, and Big Star, also a solo artist, was easily the voice and influence of today's independent rock generation. Influencing the likes of The Replacements, REM, Wilco, Elliot Smith and The Flaming Lips Many young bands have sited Chilton as laying the blueprint of "Heartfelt" music. He, and Chris Bell's effort in Big Star has truly had a profound impact on my music related life. This is devastating news for me to discover. At a time like this, there is nothing more to do but listen to the many records and words this legend has left us.

Ghost Train.

UK duo Summer Camp's "Ghost Train" takes clips and parts of a 1969 film as their subject for the video. The song and video go hand and hand, almost as if they were made for each other.

Superchunk Peanut Butter.

Some oldie but goodie here, Superchunk's Watery Hands (Cameo by Tobias Funke). I've been tempted to buy "Our Noise" the story of Merge Records lately, I don't know if I should. But Superchunk is definitely a reason I want to.
